Welcome to Hayfield Dental Care!

Welcome to Hayfield Dental Care, a long established dental and orthodontic practice in the Kingstowne area of Alexandria, Virginia. Since opening in 1987, our doctors have treated over 33,000 different patients. In fact, if you live in Kingstowne, we have probably treated many of your neighbors. Ask them what they think of us. Most of our patients are referred by existing patients and we consider that the highest compliment. We offer comprehensive dentistry for the entire family, including general treatment, teeth whitening, dentures, and tooth-colored fillings.

Every dentist at Hayfield Dental Care has received advanced or specialty training which means they can perform almost any procedure without the need for a referral to another office. We use only the latest, safest and most advanced materials and equipment to provide patients with outstanding care. Click on the links below to learn more about our doctors.

We have a minimum of four to five hygienists and three to five dentists, including the orthodontist, working every day. This makes it possible to schedule multiple family members for cleanings and check-ups simultaneously. If you have a large family and schedule in advance, it is possible to have all of your family members in and out, in the same hour, rather than spending half your day waiting for everyone to be seen at a smaller office.

Hayfield Dental Care is currently the only dental office in Kingstowne where you can have a dental implant surgically placed and restored with a crown. Other offices require that you visit a surgeon at another office for the implant placement. At our office, in most cases both procedures can be performed right here without the need for a referral to another office.

Since 2003, Dr. Charles Brown has been listed in multiple publications as one of Washington’s Top Dentists. Most recently, he was one of only six Alexandria dentists listed in Northern Virginia Magazine as one of the area's top dentists.

In addition to providing general, cosmetic, surgical and family dental services we also have a full time orthodontic specialist on staff. Dr. John Wiger, our orthodontist, has been listed over and over again in Washingtonian Magazine, Northern Virginia Magazine, Family Magazine and Virginia Living Magazine as one of the area's top orthodontists. To learn more about Dr. Wiger and our orthodontic services visit www.kingstowneorthodontics.com.

Hayfield Dental Care and Kingstowne Orthodontics are located right next to each other and share the same front desk. This makes it especially easy to coordinate your dental and orthodontic appointments. No more traveling across town with a referral to an orthodontist. All of your needs can be taken care of right here.

Please contact us for more information.

Most orthodontic concerns can wait until the office re-opens. However, in the case of an emergency you can reach VanLaecken Orthodontics care after hours. Reviewing the suggestions to some common issues below could save you some time and prevent added discomfort - maybe even saving you an extra trip to the office.

Problems

  • Loose teeth – If your teeth begin feeling a little loose, don’t worry; this is normal! Your braces must first loosen your teeth in order to move them into the right position.
  • Loose bands or brackets – broken or loose braces or appliances may or may not be a problem – call the office to be sure!
  • Turning Your Expander
  • Lost separators – most patients lose a separator during their treatment. Do not worry about losing a separator, but call our office to see if it needs to be replaced
  • Wire poking – during treatment wires may shift or bend, which may result in a wire poking. If this happens, cover the area with wax or bend the wire with the eraser end of the pencil. Call the office if the problem continues. We are always happy to answer your questions!
  • Mouth sores from braces – use wax to protect the area. Treatment time may be extended due to broken/loose brackets or bands, poor rubber band wear, poor oral hygiene, or missed appointments

However, if you are still in need of after-hour assistance, please don't hesitate to call our office and you will be instructed on how to reach the on-call orthodontic clinician.

(In the case of broken brackets or appliances, please call our office as soon as possible. This will allow us to determine if we can build in time for repair at your next scheduled appointment (and save your family a trip into the office) or if we need to see you immediately to ease pain or repair sooner and schedule the appropriate amount of time for your care.)
